Best thrillers - The silence of the lambs

The Silence of the Lamb is a 1991 American thriller, which fits into the sub-genres of crime and psychological thriller. It was directed by Jonathan Demme, and featuring a range of actors including; Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkin, Ted Levine, and Scott Glenn. The film is based on Thomas Harris 1988 novel, 'the same name', his second feature Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibal serial killer. The story is about a young FBI trainee, who is on the hunt for a serial killer, but has to gain help and information from Lecter another serial killer who is looked up in a prison for the criminally insane. She then has obstacles in her way to hunt down the killer. The film grossed at 272.7 million dollars worldwide, on just a 19 million dollar budget. In addition the film claimed academy awards in all five categories.
