My favourite thriller - jaws

Jaws is an 1975 american thriller. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg. In the story a man eating great white shark attacks people on the beach, belonging to a summer resort, prompting police and other specialists to hunt it down. The cast includes Roy Scheider as a police cheif Martin Brody, Richard Dreyfuss as an ocean photographer Matt Hooper, Murray Hamilton as the mayor of the island, and Lorraine Gary as Brodys wife Ellen. The film was mainly filmed at a vineyard, but other troubles in production include, going over budget and an overall delay. However Universal helped with a wide-release for a major studio picture with over 450 screens, along with lots of marketing and merchandise. The film was extremely popular becoming the highest grossing film of its time, with about 193 million dollars from rentals and 400 million of gross revenue; overall it grossed at about 470 million dollars world wide (ranked 127th). However at 2011 prices it would have earned 2 billion dollars.
